Soccer has been part of Midland since 1977 when soccer enthusiasts formed the Midland Soccer Club (MSC). In 1988, with a grant of $250,000 from the Gerstacker Foundation, the MSC Complex was established with 20 fields and a concessions stand. . In 2004, with another grant from the Gerstacker Foundation, the MSC complex expanded again to what it is today: a spectacular facility with over 32 fields across 50+ acres complete with two concessions stands, plentiful onsite parking, indoor bathrooms, practice fields and quality playing fields.
The MSC Complex is one of the premier soccer facilities in the state of Michigan. Every year, the MSC provide soccer leagues for over 2000 players from Midland and surrounding areas. In addition, the MSC is host to two annual tournaments which generate significant revenue for area businesses.
“The MSC provides top-notch soccer leagues for players of every age in our community. We have youth leagues for as young as 3 ½ to senior adult leagues” says Lovisa Golder, MSC Director. “The MSC complex is a gem in our community and we are constantly reminded of that by the players and parents who travel to Midland every season for soccer. We are incredibly proud of this beautiful facility.”
The Gerstacker Foundation has made similar grants to the Ludington Soccer Board, the Bay Area Soccer Association and the Freeland Soccer Club – allowing thousands more soccer enthusiasts to play every year.
